LIGHT FANDANGO /sold out (REIMER 2022) (SF) DIP, TEETH, BLUE Sdlg 93-15 (sdlg x sdlg) 5.5″ 32″ SEv M 4 br 12 buds I have never hybridized for teeth, but in 2015 this flower appeared as a new seedling with teeth on its petals. The teeth on its petals have been very consistent, and I do not think there are many diploids in commerce with teeth, so I kept it. Over the years its performance has been very consistent, with wiry but strong scapes, wide-angled branching and spacing. Its color varies from light reddish lavender to a medium purple; sometimes it looks like a bitone, sometimes the color is more uniform. Like many patterned daylilies, the watermark/pattern varies with the temperature. It nearly always has a watermark, although the watermark is sometimes subtle and other times has high contrast color with a jagged edge which matches the light teeth on the petals. It is easy pod and pollen fertile, has excellent sun resistance, and holds up in summer sun very well. It has been consistently rust resistant, with nice dark green foliage. It is a smaller bloom than the large ones that I prefer, at five inches in diameter, but its unique qualities make it worth introduction into commerce. I have several seedlings from it which also have teeth on the petals, but the teeth and the blooms are larger and more widely spaced than those on Light Fandango. Since I don’t hybridize for teeth, I have not exhausted its potential and hope for others to do so.

SOLD OUT......LOTTA DOTTA TET, STIPPLED (Maryott 2015) (ARCTIC SUNRISE X STRIKINGLY DRAMATIC) 30", 5 inch, EMRe, fertile tetraploid and evergreen. We were blown away when this first bloomed. Totally unique. Cream petals (RHS 27A) and peculiar dotting in purple (RHS 53A). The dotting is always present, but sometimes the deep purple eye is deep in the throat and sometimes extends out onto the petals. This dotting is genetic and the children are also dotted. We expect this to be an important break in dotting. Depending on the heat, this cultivar has many different looks. The dotting will always be present, but more noticable the cooler the weather. A very striking flower when you come upon it. Re blooms here and adds to the season. Named for a wonderful grandson.

It was a early cool morning and I was checking the seedlings when I saw Monster Man bloom for the first time. I had never seen a hem like it before. It was open and had substance so thick! I looked at it multiple times. Then I had to go to work. I came home for lunch at noon. I went right over to it and it had continued to open all morning and was wider and open more. Since then I have noted that if the mornings are warmer then it is fully open early. It makes giant scapes and great branching. When established it sends up immediate rebloom scapes. Good breeder with lots of pods and pollen is very fertile. I have an 2022 introduction that I named Infertile Myrtle. It has never made seeds for me. This year I decided to try Monster Man pollen and I got several pods. Can't wait to see these bloom. The only flaw that I can see is that Monster Man tends to have some spots on the petals here.

PURPLE VORTEX  /sold out (REIMER 2024) Sdlg 38-20 (sdlg x sdlg) 6″ 32″ E. Re. Dor 3 br 13 buds (2024) This richly colored purple has been a favorite of mine since its maiden bloom. The outer edges of the flower are very dark burgundy purple, gradually turning into a deep blue purple in the eyezone. The eyezone color changes to light blue veined bluish purple into white with a green throat. On some days, depending on the temperature, the edges of the white color on the sepals look like they were cut with pinking shears. The flowers early in the season can be as much as 7 inches, gradually settling down into 6 to 6.5 inches for the rest of the season. It has modest rollback, good substance and sun resistance. The scapes are strong and very upright; the branches are close together, so when the plants is in full bloom, the top of the plant is a solid sheet of purple. This is truly a magnificent purple; although it doesn’t have a broken pattern, the color variations in the bloom give that impression. The foliage is also upright, deep blue-green, and holds well throughout the season. So far it has never shown any rust in this garden. The overall effect is an upright strong-growing plant with a nosegay bloom habit of very colorful blooms. Easy pod and pollen fertile. Fairly rapid increase plus many prolifs.

REDEFINABLE M. Holmes. (2024) TET, BROKEN, STIPPLED, TEETH, (Toothy Perfection x sdlg.), Mid., Ev., Tet., 22", 5.75", 12 bc., 3 way branching. Redefinable is being sold as a hybridizer's daylily. Redefinable has been an excellent breeding daylily taking many variegated daylilies to the next level of fancy. I have many examples proving this to be true. Look at our Facebook page to see examples. As pictured, Redefinable does not carry the same variegation from bloom to bloom. Redefinable re-blooms up to 3 times. The first scape is short, blooms early, and the blooms aren't very fancy. The re-bloom scapes have been measured at 26 inches. As the daylily settles in during the season, the blooms become more fancy and heavy edged. Redefinable is an easy pod parent. Redefinable does not make huge fans. For folks that have grown Ragamuffin, I use that daylily as a guide as far a fan size comparison. Redefinable is being grown out for me in the South. If Rust is an issue for you, wait another year. Redefinable while evergreen, is a Northern Hardy Evergreen. I've grown Redefinable in zone 6 without snow cover multiple years. However I would recommend mulching it for the winter.

I liked the cross and the results so much from Brown Delicious that I made it again, this time with an even BETTER Result. Sable perfection has all the wonderful qualities of its full sib, but with a sultry, sexy rich Sable fur color and finish to its petals, with an absolutely show stopping, almost black eye offset by a bright green throat. Spotted on its petals, it offers a look rarely seen in the garden. With an 8 inch bloom on 36 inch scapes, this will be a centerpiece in your garden. Outstanding branching and plant habit, and extends the bloom season with its mid to late bloom. One of my best introductions this year. A GEM you don't want to miss.

SHATTERED (STORY 2006) RARE…DIFFICULT TO GROW... TET, BROKEN, STIPPLED, BLUE, JUDY SAYS: WOW! GORGEOUS LILAC BROKEN PATTERN AND DOES THE HALF COLORED PETAL ON SOME BLOOMS… SHATTERED has been released only a few times since it was registered,as it has had all kinds of pitfalls plague it since then. The year after lining it out, a flood washed all but one piece into the river.Two years later, it had almost the entire clump eaten off at the soil line by voles. I finally got smart and moved in close to the house where I can keep an eye on it!! SHATTERED makes small plants, bloom is 5", scape 25", 3 branches per scape with up to 18 buds, will rebloom readily when established. Parentage is BROKEN PROMISE X DESTINED TO SEE. The stable 'Rembrandt' pattern is what sets this daylily apart, I have never had it bloom without significant streaking on the petals. Pollen is very good, pods take some work. To be honest, I have not tried setting pods much on my plants to keep from stressing them out. The seedlings I have bloomed from it were crossed with HEAVEN'S MIRAGE and its sibs. These have shown significant patterns in the eyes, and a few have also manifested the 'Rembrandt' markings. I think this will become more apparent when the 2nd and 3rd generations are bloomed, and some backcrossing done with SHATTERED into these also. A work in progress for the aggressive and far-thinking hybridizer to increase the gene pool of this color pattern. SILVER SVENGALI (SWEENEY 2024) (SF) GARDEN NAME WAS REGENERATION , SDLG 2565 DIP, COLOR CHANGER ....DARK ROSE WITH A BLACK EYE ON CLOUDY DAYS IN THE MORNING..SILVER IN THE AFTERNOON..GORGEOUS.. ((FLEISCHEL’S BLACK X MARIETTA STAR DANCER..421) X PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION) 6 INCH FLOWER, 30 INCHES TALL, EARLY, 3 WAY BRANCHING WITH 21 BUDS. REBLOOMS IN CALIFORNIA. I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED TO FIND THIS COLOR CHANGER. IN THE MORNINGS I SAW A REALLY GREAT PINK WITH A “FUTURE” PATTERN FORMING..THIS WAS FIRST BLOOM ON A SINGLE FAN. I FINALLY SAW AN AFTERNOON BLOOM AND THOUGHT IT WAS ANOTHER PLANT.. THIS COLOR CHANGER NOT ONLY HAS A DIFFERENT COLOR, THE PATTERN TURNS TO BLACK AND FOLLOWS THE LINES OF THE EDGE OF THE PATTERN, WITH THE REST OF THE FLOWER TURNING SILVER OR PALE BLUE WITH RUFFLED PINK EDGES AND A PURPLE MIDRIB, AND A GREEN THROAT. THE PETALS DO NOT OVERLAP IN THE THROAT.. POD AND POLLEN (must wait til warm weather for pollen) FERTILE.

...SNAZZY / sold out (Pierce G. 2023) (SF) TET, TEETH, FRAGRANT, Very fragrant 834-P ((Red Sparkle Teeth x Sdlg) x Frilly Frazzled) SEV EM re 34” high, 6.75” flower, 4-way branching,  30 buds, . Easily Fertile Both Ways. A Big Toothy Bi-Tone. This is my favorite Toothy!  Big, with a Jacaranda coloration and ? whatever you call all that.  Golden Lemon Teeth, Spikes, Ruffles with long Tentacles that cover the sepals too.  SNAZZY will not disappoint.  I have never crossed Snazzy to Nathalie in Wonderland as I try to increase my color values, but…  it may be worth a try.
